Jay Kay has revealed that he would quite like to sit on the X Factor panel.
The Jamiroquai frontman, who performed his latest single ‘White Knuckle Ride’ on last night’s results show told The Sunday Mirror that he would be ‘brutal’ and ‘ruthless’ on the show. He also admitted that Simon Cowell isn’t quite as bad as he first imagined.
On the possibility of a judging role, Jay told The Sunday Mirror:
“I’m quite up for doing it. I’d be brutal, relentless and ruthless. I’d be saying, ‘You’re having a laugh, you’re not up to it, mate’. There would be none of that, ‘I think you were quite good. If you try to improve with this…’ I’d be like, ‘Forget it, go back to flipping burgers. Hop it’.”
He added:
“Many years ago I slated Simon to death, but it’s water under the bridge now and he’s actually quite a personable chap. Some of his comments on X Factor are legendary. These people are asking for it and, to be honest, I’d say exactly the same thing to them. Hats off to him.”
Jay may like Simon but he certainly doesn’t share the same admiration for the female panel members. In a recent interview with The Sun he called Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole “f****** useless” and added:
“What are they going to tell me about f****** music?
He went on:
“What the f***. When have you ever done anything? You’re useless. The pair of you. I mean you look great and I’d like to f****** s**g you but that’s all.”
“I just don’t like the w**** stuff I have to do. F****** X Factor and that. I’m going to have to sing in front of f****** amateurs. Do you know what I mean?”
However, after singing his new single tonight, Jay appeared sheepish and tried to save face with Dermot O’Leary. He said:
“I have to say, I’ve had reservations about appearing on the show but I’ve had a wonderful day.
Everybody’s been charming, it’s been wonderful. ”
